The Meaning of the Name “Coin and Seed”?
The Coin
The Coin — referred to as talents in the book of Matthew—shows us the importance of making wise financial decisions. In the parable, two servants act by taking risk with intention and purpose, while a third, gripped by fear of what might go wrong, buries his coin in the ground.
His inaction—rooted in worry—keeps him from participating in what he was entrusted with.
The Seed
The Seed comes from the Parable of the Sower. A farmer scatters seed, and it falls onto four types of soil, each producing a different response.
The seed that falls among thorns is overtaken by “the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of
wealth,” never given the room to grow.
But the seed that lands on fertile ground thrives because it is heard, tended, and cultivated with care.
What These Stories Teach Us
Together, these stories reveal a powerful truth: fear and worry can keep us from planting our seed, and they can drive us to bury our coin.
But when you gain clarity, direction, and confidence, you can engage with your finances intentionally
and wisely—without being controlled by uncertainty.
